Archons are the key to a lightside empire. A key that has to be painstakingly forged.

An ancient alien archaeological discovery buried under the ice in Antarctica confirms that we are not alone in the galaxy, but nobody expected this.

There isn't one alien race out there, but millions spread across the Milky Way that are dominated by dreadfully advanced Coreward empire known as the V'kit'no'sat that no one else will dare challenge. It is an evil empire skilled in the art of war and bloodshed, but one whose focus is on another threat at the heart of the galaxy, and they care little for the Rim.

Earth is a lost colony of that empire, and one that does not have permission to exist. If they ever come out to the edge of the Rim again and find us here, we will be exterminated without hesitation. Why? Because the V'kit'no'sat have no use for weak slaves, so they gave Humans great psionic powers. Powers that have gone dormant due to our unregulated breeding. And those powers are not allowed to exist outside of V'kit'no'sat service.

So how do we defend ourselves? We can't any more than the rest of the galaxy, and even the weakest of those races would bulldoze us over if we got in their way. Our only slim chance is to study the V'kit'no'sat technology left buried on Earth and slowly use it to upgrade our own. But even if we could catch up one day, we'd be hilariously outnumbered by an empire of over a million planets. There is no way for us to win against those numbers.

The only chance to confront a darkside empire of such power is with a lightside one. Even the V'kit'no'sat could not achieve that, and therein lies their Achilles heel. In order to survive Earth must become better than them, and not just in technology. We must build a full blown lightside empire...or cross our fingers and hope they never find out we exist.

The first step to build a lightside empire is the training of Archons, for on them everything hinges, and that is where Earth must start. To do so you have to find very specific people, train the hell out of them, then test them over and over again to confirm that they are incorruptible before you turn them loose and hope for the best.

Darkside power is quick and easy. Lightside power requires the highest difficulty and takes forever to grow, but in the long run it has no equal. Lightside power is Earth's only hope of survival.
